Job Description Summary: The Assistant Director of Student Success and Strategic Outreach serves as a critical connector between student support services and strategic enrollment initiatives for the Farmer School of Business (FSB). This role is focused on improving retention and graduation rates among first-generation, and at-risk students while also supporting targeted recruitment, pipeline programs, and yield strategies. This position blends academic advising, high-impact engagement programming, recruitment strategy, and cross-departmental collaboration to foster inclusive student achievement and enrollment outcomes.
Job Description
Student Success & Retention
- Provide proactive academic advising, coaching, and mentoring to first-generation and at-risk students in programs such as Passport, Ryan Family Scholars, and Grainger Scholars.
- Identify barriers to academic progress and design intervention strategies including referrals, mentoring, academic recovery plans, and faculty alerts.
- Teach and coordinate first-year experience programming and transition support initiatives.
- Use tools such as Navigate and institutional data to monitor student progress and ensure timely degree completion.
- Collaborate with Residence Life and other campus partners to deliver co-curricular programming and facilitate a strong sense of belonging.
- Support Student organization efforts (MBA, etc).
Recruitment & Pipeline Development
- Support Office of Admissions high school recruitment and outreach efforts targeting first generation and high-potential student populations for FSB.
- Cultivate relationships with guidance counselors, alumni, and community organizations to promote FSB and its inclusive programs.
- Design and implement recruitment programming for FSB prospective students (e.g., summer camp academies, Passport Bootcamp, campus visits, Bridges) in partnership with the Office of Admission.
- Serve as a liaison between FSB and the Office of Admission for recruitment communications and events (i.e.- Bridges Scholars Program, Make it Miami efforts, Summer Scholars, etc.).
- Develop recruitment-focused content including social media, newsletters, and promotional materials in collaboration with Office of Admissions.
Outreach & Engagement
- Facilitate employer visits and professional development workshops to connect students with internships and career pathways in conjunction with Director of Industry Partnerships.
- Develop and evaluate program impact reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned by the Director for Passport, Ryan Family Scholars and Grainger Scholars
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Master’s degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Student Affairs and Higher Education, Social Work, or other closely related field and at least four years of experience in advising or a closely related field.
Consideration may be given to candidates with four (4) years advising and professional experience in an undergraduate business program, experience working with first generation college students or outreach programs for students from diverse backgrounds/experiences, and experience in admission, student success, teaching a first year experience course, career development; superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite software and internet applications; ability to work effectively and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders in different contexts, including faculty, staff, and students.
