Central Connecticut State University invites applications to join the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities as a full-time, Assistant Director of Student Rights & Responsibilities. We seek applicants who bring knowledge and experience in working through complex, dynamic situations and promote protecting the due process rights of students at a diverse institution.
Position Responsibilities
- Assumes overall responsibility for the Office in the absence of the Director.
- Advises stakeholders of student conduct policies and disciplinary procedures.
- Conducts pre-hearing investigations and expedites the administrative disposition of alleged student misconduct cases.
- Maintains competencies related to the case management process.
- Designs, develops, and coordinates outreach activities.
- Assesses the effectiveness of the Office’s programs.
- Establishes and maintains effective liaison with University departments.
- Conducts research on “best practices” and current trends in student conduct administration.
- Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, publications, website materials, learning outcomes and programs.
- Trains a variety of groups including hearing bodies, Residence Life staff, student organizations, and faculty.
- Designs and makes presentations and/or conducts workshops.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three years of experience working in a higher education environment and serving on student conduct hearing boards
- Specialized training in student conduct administration
- Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to utilize enterprise software and Microsoft Office Suite
Ideal Candidate
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or other related field
- 2 years adjudicating conduct or disciplinary cases at an educational institution
- Familiarity with electronic student conduct information management systems (ex. Simplicity or Maxient)
- Experience facilitating constructive dialogue and mediations between students in escalated situations
