Upward Bound Summer Program Assistant
Job Summary
The Mills Institute at Northeastern University Upward Bound TRIO Program (UB) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. UB assists low-income, first generation, middle school and high school students in the Cities of Oakland and Richmond by disseminating information on the college preparation process. The Summer Enrichment Program will provide academic instruction in core subjects: English, Sciences, and Mathematics.
Summer Enrichment Program Description
The Mills Institute at Northeastern University Upward Bound Program offers a six-week summer academic enrichment program for students entering grades 9th-12th. Staff orientations will likely take place June 10th. Instruction for the UB Summer Program is scheduled to begin Monday, June 15th and continues through Thursday, July 24th. The daily schedule is approximately 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday - Friday.
Essential Job Functions
- Monitoring daily attendance
- Support students with work completion
- Student lunch time supervision
- Prep materials for instructors
- Supervise students on weekly field trips
- Participate in UB weekly staff meetings
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a Sophomore year status in college coursework. Minimum 2 years direct working relationship/or tutoring low-income, first-generation college-bound students (preferred).
