The School of Engineering and Computer Science at Elizabethtown College seeks a collaborative and enthusiastic faculty member to support its nationally recognized Engineering program.

We invite applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Engineering with emphasis on Electrical Engineering to begin in August 2026. This position may be filled on either a tenure-track or teaching professor (non-tenure) track depending on the applicants’ qualifications and interests. The position is full-time, nine months, and face-to-face (in-person) with rank determined based on qualifications.

Candidates with proficiency in electrical engineering and expertise in fields including electrical, computer, materials, mechatronics, biomedical, robotics, engineering physics, or aerospace engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The School of Engineering and Computer Science offers an ABET-accredited multidisciplinary Engineering program with nine concentrations and is nationally recognized for its mastery-based pedagogy and active engagement with the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN). Recently ranked in the top 20% of undergraduate-focused engineering programs nationwide (#46 tie) by U.S. News & World Report, the program continues to earn distinction for excellence in undergraduate engineering education and a growing reputation for producing technically strong, socially responsible, and entrepreneurially minded graduates.

Job Duties:

  • Teaching undergraduate engineering and physics courses and labs that may include Circuits, Physics II (electromagnetism), upper-level electrical engineering electives, Introduction to Engineering, and Capstone Design.
  • Advising and mentoring undergraduate engineering students.
  • Serving the Department, School, and Institution, including interaction with prospective students and families, participation in ABET accreditation processes, and engagement with institutional shared governance.
  • Contribute to ECS’s collaborative and innovative teaching culture.
  • Maintain and implement professional development plan.
  • For tenure-track candidates: Conduct scholarly activities leading to publication/presentation, particularly engineering sciences work in collaboration with undergraduate research students.

Required Qualifications:

Tenure-Track Faculty (Assistant or Associate Professor)

  • Requires a Ph.D. awarded by August 2026 in an engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical or related field such as Computer, Materials, Biomedical, Mechatronics, Engineering Physics, or Aerospace Engineering).
  • Expected to develop and maintain an undergraduate-centered technical engineering research agenda consistent with Etown’s scale and teaching mission
  • Typical load: 12 contact hours per week, including class sessions, labs, and project supervision.
  • Expected to teach Circuits and develop 1–2 upper-level electrical or related undergraduate courses in their area of expertise.

Teaching Professor (Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor)

  • Requires a Master’s degree or higher in engineering or a closely related field, with industry experience preferred.
  • No research expectations.
  • Typical load: 15 contact hours per week, including class sessions, labs, and project supervision.
  • Primarily focused on introductory-level courses and labs in Electrical Engineering and related fields but may include instruction in upper-level undergraduate coursework.

Both positions require a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and collaboration as well as effective interpersonal and communication skills.

All applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for three references. Tenure-track candidates must also submit a research statement; teaching-track candidates are not required to do so.

  • The cover letter (1-2 pages) should detail your specific interest in being a member of the Elizabethtown College community and discuss the unique values you would add to our educational experiences.
  • The teaching statement (3 pages maximum) should detail a philosophy of teaching and emphasize strategies you will use to engage and support students, as well as align with Elizabethtown College’s mission.
  • References provided will be contacted by Elizabethtown College to submit letters of recommendation electronically if applicant is selected for interviewing.
  • Tenure-track candidates only: The research statement (2 pages maximum). This statement should address your plans for leading and publishing engineering sciences research at Elizabethtown College and explain how you might involve undergraduate students.

Also, if available, please include ACT153 clearances, consisting of PA Child Abuse, PA State Police and FBI and completed in the last five years. In the event a candidate doesn’t have them, they will be ordered prior to being officially hired.

Please note, visa sponsorship will only be considered if applicant is qualified for the Tenured Track Faculty role. Also, an applicant must be living in the US with a valid Visa at the time of interview and hiring.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and support students;
  • A demonstrated ability to incorporate active learning, project-based learning or other evidence-based teaching practices, which may include engagement with KEEN and ASEE;
  • A demonstrated ability to involve undergraduate students in research;
  • A multidisciplinary background enabling wide coverage of engineering courses.
