Assistant or Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy
Tennessee Wesleyan University’s Master of Occupational Therapy Campus, located in Knoxville, TN, seeks a Full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy with experience in general OT practice techniques, working with geriatric populations, and standardized/non-standardized assessments used in practice. Knowledge and experience with neuroanatomy is preferred. This core faculty member will contribute to the MOT program team and facilitate courses as per education, work experience, and areas of expertise. This Assistant/Associate Professor will assist with the development of programmatic and course evaluation matrices, assist with the collaboration between the healthcare academic and clinical program offerings of and surrounding educational affiliation opportunities in the surroundings areas of Knoxville, Tennessee. The Assistant/Associate professor will serve on committees to further facilitate the development of the MOT program to continue to improve student and program outcomes.
Responsibilities of the Full-time Occupational Therapist Assistant/Associate Professor will be to perform education duties within the MOT Program, including planning, development, delivery, evaluation, and the selection and refinement of course content and lessons specific to their area of expertise. Service on various committees, such as the Admissions Committee, Thesis Committees, and others, is required.
All graduate faculty members are expected to be active participants in the professional and community life of the University. They advise and mentor graduate/adult students and contribute to a vibrant and growing academic program through participation in professional/scholarly activities, curriculum planning and development.
Education
Applicants must hold a master’s degree, entry-level doctoral degree, or post-professional doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy awarded by an institution that is accredited by a United States Department of Education recognized regional accrediting body.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of Tennessee (or can obtain one upon employment start-date).
- Initially certified by the National Board for Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
Minimum Work Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of full-time work as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
Leadership / Other Qualifications
Provides leadership to faculty through committee work and collaboration, administrative staff through collaborative efforts, and students within the program; Demonstrates an understanding of university and department policies and procedures; Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the program’s and institution’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to use Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- Must be familiar with online and/or synchronous teaching and learning and willing to use Microsoft Teams, Campus (Learning Management System), and others as directed.
- Exceptional organization and course facilitation, planning skills, and experience with teaching at a post-secondary level preferred.
- A history of educating occupational therapy students (i.e., in the classroom setting, in Lab, or on fieldwork) is preferred.
- Willingness to take on new challenges related to program opportunities, involvement, and development.
