"ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR OF SMALL ANIMAL SURGERY"

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Small Animal Surgery. The position is at the Department of Equine and Small Animal Medicine on the Viikki campus in Helsinki. Responsibilities include teaching, research, clinical services, and continuing education in small animal surgery subdisciplines such as soft tissue, orthopaedics, and dentistry. Duties involve teaching and supervising veterinary students, contributing to the development of the field, and leading research. Leadership in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital may also be required.

Qualifications: A DVM or equivalent degree, EU veterinary license, and a PhD in Veterinary Medicine are required. A specialist degree in small animal surgery (e.g., Diplomate of ECVS or ACVS) is a merit. Candidates must have research and teaching experience in small animal surgery, clinical service experience, and strong interpersonal skills. Fluency in English is essential, with an expectation to learn Finnish or Swedish.

For Assistant/Associate Professor: Ability to conduct independent research and teach. For full Professor: Top-level scholarly qualifications, research funding experience, PhD supervision, and international collaboration.

Salary: Annual gross salary ranges from approximately 57,000 to 74,000 euros for Assistant/Associate Professor and 70,000 to 90,000 euros for Professor, based on qualifications.
