"ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR OF VETERINARY ANAESTHESIA AND ANALGESIA"

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. The applicant may be appointed as an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) or as a full Professor, depending on qualifications and career stage. The position is at the Department of Equine and Small Animal Medicine in Viikki campus in Helsinki.

The appointee will be responsible for veterinary anaesthesiology in teaching, research, clinical services, and continuing education, including perioperative care, pain alleviation, intensive care, and emergency care for companion, production, and experimental animals. Duties include teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students, contributing to the development of veterinary anaesthesiology, and leading research. Leadership responsibilities in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital may also be included.

Requirements include a DVM or equivalent degree, licensure as a veterinarian in the EU, and a PhD in Veterinary Medicine. A professional specialist degree in veterinary anaesthesiology (e.g., Diplomate of ECVAA or ACVA) is a merit. Candidates must have research and teaching experience in veterinary anaesthesiology, wide clinical experience, and good cooperative skills.

For Assistant/Associate Professor, applicants need a PhD, ability to conduct independent research, teaching skills, and motivation for an academic career. For full Professor, top-level scholarly qualifications, research funding ability, supervision experience, and international collaboration are required. Fluency in English is necessary, with expected proficiency in Finnish or Swedish within a reasonable time.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Helsinki is the only institution in Finland training veterinarians, with departments and a Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The university offers comprehensive services, including health care and professional development.

Salary ranges from approximately 57,000 - 74,000 euros annually for Assistant/Associate Professor and 70,000 - 90,000 euros for Professor.
