Assistant Professor: Biological Sciences & Cell Biology - Fall 2026
Job Summary
Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Biology faculty position with expertise in the area of cellular biology, microbiology or genetics, starting August 1, 2026. The candidate will report to the Chair of the Biological Sciences Department. Primary responsibilities will be teaching a variety of undergraduate biology courses, including cell biology, genetics and general biology, for biology majors and non-majors. Depending on the candidate's expertise, occasional teaching of upper-level biology courses in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Human Genetics, etc. may be expected. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement, research, and service to the college and community.
The Department of Biological Sciences is interested in candidates with experience working with undergraduate students and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for all students, regardless of background. GGC is an institution that values innovative teaching, scholarship, advising, and mentoring (advising and mentoring are expected of all faculty). The candidate will be expected to perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Biology (or a closely related field) on or before the semester of the start date and a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours within the discipline.
