Job Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nephrology has an opening for a 1.0 FTE/0.9 cFTE Assistant Professor faculty member to provide inpatient, outpatient and procedural services at Children's Hospital Colorado. This position will include clinical responsibilities across the inpatient, ambulatory, and procedural aspects of our program, as well as opportunities for involvement in the administrative, research, and educational aspects of our program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs.
- Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
- Records physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
- Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
- Oversees mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff.
- Orders studies, test and ancillary services.
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with regulatory standards.
- Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
- Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.
- May refer patients to specialized health resources for treatment.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic screening tests according to protocol.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology
- Current Colorado State Medical License and DEA certification
- Clinical experience with complex kidney disease and renal replacement therapy
Condition of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:
- Procedural proficiency with percutaneous renal biopsy by ultrasound guidance
- Clinical experience in an academic setting
- Experience in precepting residents, learners and fellows in an outpatient clinical setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$181,220- $188,613.
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
