The Department of Dermatology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of in non-invasive diagnosis and surveillance of pigmented lesions is required. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Dermatology. Skin cancer expertise, proven by publications, invited lectures, or clinical experience, is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience or potential is preferred.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching residents in dermatology and other specialties caring for skin cancer; fellows in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology; medical students; trainees rotating from other countries or institutions. The faculty member will play a key role in educating our residents on the cutaneous oncology track and research fellow in cutaneous oncology.
Clinical responsibilities may include evaluation and treatment of patients with skin cancer, particularly those with a high-risk of recurrence or metastasis. Clinical responsibilities will focus on patients in the Penn Dermatology Oncology Center's specialty clinics, including the Pigmented Lesion Clinic, the Rare and Inherited Skin Cancer Clinic, and the High-Risk Skin Cancer Clinic for Organ Transplant Recipients and Immunosuppressed Patients.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include focus on clinical research addressing practical questions in the care of skin cancer patients at increased risk for recurrence or metastasis from skin cancer; translational research in collaboration with physician scientists focused on skin cancer; clinical trials for new drugs to treat patients with skin cancers; collaborative research with other specialists. The Clinician Educator will have protected time for academic and administrative pursuits. Evidence of scholarship is required in the Clinician Educator track.
