Job Details
University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
Department: Cardiology
Job Title: Assistant Professor
Position #00786227 – Requisition #34951
Job Summary:
Clinical: The primary role of this faculty position within the Division of Cardiology will be as a clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist. Expected clinical responsibilities include participation in the inpatient EP consultation service, outpatient EP clinic, performing of non-invasive and invasive EP procedures, and ECG and ambulatory monitoring interpretation, in addition to sharing in overnight, weekend, and holiday EP call coverage throughout the year. Additionally, a limited degree of inpatient General Cardiology service is expected. The position will reside almost entirely within the University of Colorado Hospital Anschutz Medical Center footprint. Components of the clinical job description may evolve over time and will be defined both by individual interests and program needs. Approximately 70% of time will be expected to be devoted to clinical activities.
Research: Mentorship possibilities are diverse and plentiful on our campus and will be determined by faculty interest. Access to the research infrastructure that has developed within in the EP section and within the Cardiology Division, as well as protected time for scholarship and some seed funds will be provided to facilitate early career development. Infrastructure includes access to data analysts, biostatisticians and the animal lab. In addition, the division has built a clinical research infrastructure, including expertise in grants management, IRB and regulatory processes, and also a cohort of clinical trials coordinators, all of which are widely available to EP Faculty. As is the case for all faculty, ultimate responsibility for obtaining funding for all expenses, working with Grants and Contracts in formulating agreements, and compliance with all IRB and other regulatory requirements rests with the individual faculty member. We would anticipate that ~25% of your time would be spent in this arena.
Teaching: All EP faculty members are expected to participate in teaching activities for both General Cardiology and EP training programs, including didactic lectures related to cardiology trainees as well as in the education of house officers and medical students on various clinical services. Additional options for participating in general medical education through the School of Medicine also exist for those who are interested.
Administration: There are occasional administrative activities and committees that require involvement of the entire cardiology faculty and in reality, good citizenship and involvement in key committees is an important component of an academic job description and an element that factors into promotion consideration. It is not anticipated that administrative responsibilities within the Division of Cardiology will occupy more than 5% of time initially.
Work Location: Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
