Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of Applied Human Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University seeks a nine-month, tenure-track, assistant professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D. in Global Hospitality, Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment.
The position serves the bachelor's in Global Hospitality & Tourism, an online program with concentrations in Gastronomic Tourism and Sustainable Hospitality. The program includes courses in socio-cultural hospitality, universal sustainable design, multi-generational programming, global hospitality law, sustainable hospitality, history & culture of wine, and bourbon, beer, & spirits, as well as opportunities for internships and study abroad experiences. Responsibilities of faculty include teaching, scholarly activity, and service to the university, community, and profession.
The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.
