Assistant Professor in Advanced Manufacturing
The Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a full-time probationary position at the Assistant Professor rank in the field of Advanced Manufacturing, from individuals having proven expertise in manufacturing automation and robotics, commencing July 1, 2026, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Candidates will be considered with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below:
- Teach Mechanical Engineering courses, especially in the areas of Mechatronics and Manufacturing, at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
- Establish an externally funded and sustainable research program;
- Provide professional service to the Department, the Faculty, the University and the community.
The successful candidate will be expected to initiate and lead an outstanding, diverse, independent, innovative, externally funded research program of international caliber. We are particularly interested in a candidate who has a demonstrated record of excellence in research and publication in the area of manufacturing automation and robotics. Expertise in the application of these technologies to machining processes will be considered an added advantage. The chosen candidate is expected to complement existing expertise in the Department, particularly in the Manufacturing and Robotics related areas.
The selected applicant must hold undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering or related field; must be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba; must possess excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred qualifications include postdoctoral/industry experience and publications in reputable journals, conferences and holds patents.
