Assistant Professor in Cyber Security
Job Summary
The Theory of Computer Science (TCS) and Complex Cyber Infrastructure (CCI) research groups at the University of Amsterdam are seeking an Assistant Professor in Cyber Security. You will conduct research in the "Challenges in Cyber Security" project, funded by the NWO Gravitation program, collaborating with researchers from various institutions. This role involves research, teaching, and project management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research in cyber security, leading to publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences.
- Pursue external funding from sources like NWO, EU, or industry.
- Contribute to the NWO Gravitation project, including research, administrative, and reporting tasks.
- Foster collaboration within the Informatics Institute and with national and international partners.
- Develop, coordinate, and teach courses in bachelor and master programs.
- Supervise Bachelor, Master, and PhD theses.
- Participate in committees, working groups, and departmental administrative tasks.
Qualifications and Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Motivational lecturer with a passion for teaching.
- Committed researcher demonstrated by publications in relevant international top-tier conferences or journals.
- Professional command of English and willingness to learn Dutch.
- Possession of the University Teaching Qualification or willingness to obtain it within two years.
- Highly valued (but not required): Experience in acquiring funding, managing projects, supervising PhD research, high standing in the scientific community, international network, and administrative tasks.
What the Employer Offers
- Temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for 18 months, with a potential permanent contract based on performance.
- Gross monthly salary ranging from €4,492 to €6,148, based on experience.
- Additional benefits including 8% holiday allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, pension contributions, holiday hours, parental leave, and courses for professional development.
- Possibility of the '30% ruling' for non-Dutch applicants.
- Support for housing if moving from abroad.
