"Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity (0.8-1.0 FTE)"

Job Summary: The Faculty of Science at Leiden University, through the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), is seeking an Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity. The role focuses on research in areas such as software security, network security, and AI security, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations. The position involves teaching cybersecurity courses for the new Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Bachelor program starting in Fall 2026.

Responsibilities: Conduct independent research in cybersecurity; Teach two cybersecurity-related courses annually at the Bachelor level as the main lecturer; Obtain the University Teaching Qualification within 2 years; Supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students; Secure external funding for research projects; Participate in institutional committees and academic activities.

Qualifications and Requirements: PhD degree in Computer Science or a similar field; Academic, creative, and open mindset; Ability to work independently and in teams; Demonstrated research independence with a strong publication record; Excellent proficiency in both English and Dutch; Experience in teaching and supervising students, preferably at the Bachelor level. Exceptional candidates may be considered for an Associate Professor position, requiring a strong record of supervising PhD students, obtaining funding, and having a professional network.
