The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is actively seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, as a board certified/board eligible full-time Pediatrician. Position will provide clinical services at Wellstar Children's Hospital of Georgia, and teaching/instruction with Augusta University, Medical College of Georgia. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities

Patient Care - 90%
Provide clinical care for the pediatric patient population in the inpatient setting. Clinical care would include but is not limited to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting lab results, developing treatment plans, and patient/family education. Maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated, and share weekday, weekend, and holiday emergent/afterhours call coverage.

Teaching/Instruction - 10%
Educational responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing mentorship, clinical supervision and consultation to residents/medical students/staff at MCG/AU and develop a more in-depth educational experience for trainees in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Required Qualifications

MD, DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Board eligible or certified in Pediatrics. Must have or be able to obtain a medical license in the state of Georgia, obtain a federal DEA, and be CPR certified.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
