Assistant Professor in Science, Environment, and Risk Communication
The Department of Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University is seeking a highly collaborative scholar to conduct research and teach in the areas of science and/or risk communication. This position is part of a Cohort Hire in Creating a Climate-Resilient Future.
Position: Assistant Professor, Tenure-track, located in Ithaca, NY.
The successful candidate will conduct research and teach in risk and/or science communication, with a focus on environmental and health issues. Applicants should have expertise in psychological, sociological, or institutional approaches using quantitative or mixed methods.
Responsibilities:
- Research (50%): Conduct an internationally recognized, externally funded program on risk communication and impacts of sustainable energy technologies.
- Teaching (50%): Teach two or three undergraduate and/or graduate courses per year and advise students in undergraduate and Ph.D. programs.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication or a closely aligned field by the date of appointment. A track-record of outstanding peer-reviewed scholarship, excellence in teaching, and commitment to mentoring.
