Organizational Unit Overview:

The Department of Kinesiology is one of six academic units in the College of Health and Human Performance offering five-degree programs: BS in Exercise Physiology, BS in Physical Education and Coaching Science, BS in Sport Performance Science, MS in Kinesiology, a Ph.D. in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science, and a minor in Strength and Conditioning. There are over 1100 majors and 29 full-time faculty. Our internationally known faculty are collaborative, interdisciplinary, and successful in innovative teaching approaches and research that receives external funding. They enthusiastically engage our students in and out of the classroom through interactive lectures, research collaboration, community service projects, as well as other activities. Our distinct research labs support our academic programs as well as provide opportunities for faculty and student scholarship. Faculty and students research fields related to Exercise Physiology, Physical Activity Promotion, Biomechanics, Motor Control, Adapted Physical Activity, Exercise and Sport Psychology, and Pedagogy.

Job Duties:

The Department of Kinesiology within the College of Health and Human Performance at East Carolina University seeks candidates for two nine-month tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2026. The successful candidates are expected to teach in an area aligned with their area of expertise and be applicable to a variety of our degree programs, develop or further enhance a nationally recognized research program, as evidenced by a strong record of impactful publications in sport and/or tactical populations, and seek external funding. The successful candidates will complement the current departments research strengths. Additional responsibilities include providing service to the university, community, and profession, as well as mentoring masters and/or doctoral students.

Contingent upon availability of funds.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Ph.D. in Kinesiology or a closely related field including but not limited to: Exercise and Sport Science, Movement Science, Motor Behavior, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, or Sport Psychology.
