Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The College of Sciences and Mathematics at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026.

Candidates are invited to submit applications to join the Biology Department, a collaborative group of faculty who provide high quality learning experiences in a small classroom environment and who engage undergraduates in various scientific research experiences. Job responsibilities include teaching introductory-level courses for majors and non-majors. Additional teaching may include upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise that support and complement current offerings in the Biology Department. Full time teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year. The successful candidate will develop a robust research program for undergraduates that broadens our department’s existing strengths. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarly activity, and departmental, college and university service. Ph.D. or progress toward a terminal degree is required; teaching experience strongly preferred. In the cover letter, include information about your research interests with examples of specific undergraduate research projects as well as a description of your teaching philosophy.   • Knowledge of the programs and services offered by Belmont University. Interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

Required Education Ph.D. or progress toward a terminal degree is required.

Required Experience Teaching experience is strongly preferred

The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
