Description
The John Chambers College of Business & Economics at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Business Law beginning in August 2026.
West Virginia University and The John Chambers College of Business and Economics is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and service, to the academic community.
The primary teaching responsibility for this position is business law, with courses drawn from the candidate's area of expertise. Candidates should demonstrate a teaching philosophy that emphasizes experiential learning and student engagement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach effectively in both in-person and online formats at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, and to collaborate with colleagues to support and strengthen the college's innovative, student-centered culture during this period of rapid program growth.
The standard teaching load for this role is 18 credits per year to meet accreditation requirements. In addition to teaching excellence, we seek candidates who are capable of publishing in high-quality academic journals. Service responsibilities will include a partial appointment (10%) to the Center for Free Enterprise.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and possesses teaching and research interests in business law. A successful candidate will be a member of the general business department.
