****Our Program and Who We Are Looking For****

The Business Administration (BA) Program at Portland Community College (PCC) invites dynamic, innovative candidates to apply for a full-time instructor position specializing in Business Technology. Serving more than 5,000 students annually, PCC's BA program is one of the region's most impactful business education pathways, offering courses through flexible and accessible delivery options-including fully online (asynchronous), live online (via Zoom), on-site at multiple PCC campuses, and hybrid formats.

At PCC, we are deeply committed to high-quality, culturally responsive instruction and to advancing equitable student success. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students build essential digital, technological, and analytical skills for today's business environment.

The selected candidate will join a collaborative team of 15 full-time and 50+ part-time faculty members and will serve as a lead instructor for business technology courses within the BA program. Teaching responsibilities include BA106, BA116, BA169Z, and future newly developed courses. This role is ideal for an educator eager to drive curriculum innovation, strengthen digital fluency, business technology offerings, and continuously enhance curriculum quality using culturally responsive teaching practices.

Beyond the classroom, this position provides exciting opportunities to collaborate across programs and departments, contribute to curriculum and subject-area advancement, and mentor fellow faculty members. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues within and beyond the Business & Entrepreneurship Pathway to help elevate and expand the BA program's reach and impact.

This position will be based at the Sylvania campus; however, faculty will be expected to teach courses at other campuses/sites on as needed basis. Faculty will be required to be present on-site at least two days per week during each academic term.

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Degree in a business field (e.g. Business or Business Education, MS in Business Technology or Business Analytics);
  • OR
  • Master's Degree in any field and a minimum combination of five years of relevant teaching experience and industry experience;
  • OR
  • Bachelor's degree in any field and a minimum combination of five years of relevant teaching experience and industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Community college or higher ed teaching experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Tableau and experience teaching/training how to use application courses and/or software data analytics tools and emerging technologies using AI for business solutions.
  • Professional experience with data analytics in business or academic settings.

Success Criteria
  • Ability and enthusiasm to teach BA106, BA116, BA169Z courses and create business technology-related emerging curriculum and courses applying student-centered active learning methodologies (https://www.pcc.edu/ccog/ba/).
  • Demonstrated technical competence of essential business software and emerging technologies, ability to stay abreast of emerging technologies for various business functions and effectively teach those to diverse body of students.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multi-modal learning environments, digital fluency, and accessible course design & implementation. Commitment to innovation in online/digital course design and blended delivery modality, creation and facilitation of an engaging and interactive use of course structures - for online asynchronous, online synchronous, in-person, and blended modalities.
  • Experience adapting teaching or training strategies and practices to meet the needs of a wide range of learners with respect to different learning styles, knowledge, backgrounds, abilities, experiences, and perspectives. Evidence may include but not limited to compassionate management, culturally-responsive teaching principles, trauma-informed practices, inquiry-based experiential pedagogies and practices.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and experience partnering and collaborating with colleagues and community stakeholders using effective intercultural communication, diplomacy, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience managing and balancing competing priorities and adapting work schedule for remote and in-person work and balancing multiple projects and tasks.
  • Demonstrated agility and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

Regarding Academic Credentials at PCC

These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.

Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard. ****How We Determine Initial Salary Placement****

Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($73,911) and Step 3 ($78,408) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement. Placement at a higher step may be possible based upon additional experience and internal equity. The highest step of the range is step 17, ($118,558) Please review the salary schedule here.
