Position Summary:
Yeshiva College and the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University invite applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies, with an anticipated start date of August 2nd, 2026. The ideal candidate will evince a promising research agenda in one or more areas of specialization that complement the strengths of the existing faculty, such as Hebrew Bible; ancient, medieval, early modern, or modern Jewish history; the history of Jews in Muslim lands; rabbinic literature; and/or Jewish philosophy. The position includes teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as advisement of undergraduate Honors theses, master's theses, and PhD dissertations. Joining a robust faculty active in the scholarly community in Jewish Studies and related disciplines, the ideal candidate will maintain an active scholarly profile and build a record of academic publications that will lead to a successful tenure case. The candidate will understand and be aligned with the unique mission of Yeshiva University.
This is an in-person position based at Yeshiva University's Wilf Campus in Northern Manhattan.
Position Responsibilities
Candidates should demonstrate a promising scholarly agenda and a strong teaching record commensurate with appointment at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The teaching load for the position is three courses per semester, including two at the undergraduate level and one at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach across multiple fields or periods within Jewish Studies.
Educational Background:
Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Hebrew Bible or Jewish Studies, with a PhD in hand by September 2026.
