"Assistant Professor of Political Science (American Politics), Tenure Track"

Job Summary

The Department of Political Science at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position in American Politics at the assistant professor rank beginning in August 2026. The department seeks candidates in the subfield of American Politics specializing in judicial politics, law, and/or courts. The successful candidate will teach an introductory course in American Politics and upper-level courses in their specialty. The successful candidate should have a commitment to teaching and advising in the liberal arts tradition. The department has a strong history of pre-law advising at the College, a responsibility that is available to interested faculty with expertise in judicial politics. The teaching load for this position is the equivalent of five courses (typically 2-3 or 3-2) over the academic year.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or be ABD) in Political Science or closely related field with a specialization in judicial politics, law, and/or courts. Teaching experience or promise of excellence in teaching is desirable.
