Position Summary
The Arkansas State University (ASTATE) Department of Psychology and Counseling, in the College of Education and Behavioral Science, seeks an Assistant Professor of School Counseling, for a nine-month, non-tenure track position (# F00228) for the MSE School Counseling program.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaching is normally 15 credit hours per semester
- Engage in supervision as needed
- Attend weekly meetings
- Serve on committees as needed
- Provide comprehensive feedback on student assignments and discussion posts in order to promote learning and growth
- Integrate video conference sessions into didactic and clinical courses
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to share Formal Teaching Evaluations with student feedback from previous/current institution
- Must be willing to teach both didactic and clinical courses
- Ability to teach fully online school counseling courses and engage in service duties as appropriate for the program; including facilitating evening sessions via video conference.
- Provide comprehensive feedback on student assignments and discussion posts in order to promote learning and growth
- Willingness to integrate video conference sessions into didactic classes (at least 2 per session) in order to enhance faculty / peer interaction and augment learning
- Ability to work in a collaborative team setting

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education by August 16th, 2026.
Candidate must possess appropriate license as an LPC or LPCS, NCC, ACS, or licensed school counselor
Candidates are encouraged to highlight experiences with courses taught.
Must have experience in counseling related didactic courses such as:
o Foundational Knowledge and ASCA National Model
o Social Cultural Foundations / Possess a high degree of multicultural competence and cultural responsiveness
o Ethical & Legal Issues
o Group Counseling
o Program Development
o Counseling Children and Adolescents
o Psycho-Social Aspects of Counseling
o Theories of Professional School Counseling

o Special Populations
o Diagnosis and Treatment
o Family Counseling

o Tele-mental Health Counseling
o Consultation
o Research and Assessment
