Assistant Professor, Psychology (I/O) Tenure-track
Job Description
The Psychology Department at Ohio University invites applications for a full-time, assistant-level, tenure-track, faculty position in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (I/O) beginning August 2026.
Duties include maintaining an active, high-quality, research program, directing graduate student research and experiential learning, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and participating in departmental, college, and university service. Candidates should have a record of scholarly productivity, where evidence of a fundable research program is a plus.
Research in the Psychology Department focuses on social, cognitive, health, I/O, and clinical psychology topics and the department has a strong history of collaboration across these domains. Indeed, I/O at Ohio University has a very long tradition. The department is housed in Porter Hall, named after James P. Porter, who was the third owner and longest editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology (1921-1942). In the present day, Ohio University offers the resources of a large R1 research university, while preserving a small-town atmosphere. The department also has a strong online undergraduate program (9th in the U.S. according to U.S. News and World Reports) and is developing an MS online program in I/O.
The College of Arts & Sciences is central to Ohio University's transformative learning experience. The foundational instruction for the entire university, delivered through the general education and liberal arts curriculum, is provided by the College of Arts & Sciences. The college provides the primary instruction for approximately one-third of the majors on campus, as well as half of the undergraduate credit hours on the Athens campus.
Ohio University's main campus, located in Athens, Ohio, has a dynamic residential campus that attracts top-quality students. Athens is a family-friendly and culturally rich community located amidst scenic state parks and a national forest just 75 minutes southeast of Columbus, Ohio. The charm of tree-lined brick walkways on the university's College Green makes you feel as if you are at a small college rather than a large university.
