Assistant Professor, Respiratory Care ? Health Professions (Tenure ? Track)
Full-time, tenure-track position. Works with a dynamic and innovative faculty team dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Exhibits teaching responsibilities across the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care (BSRC), BSRC online DA completion and Master of Respiratory Care (MRC) programs, fostering the development of future leaders in respiratory care. Engages in scholarly activities that contribute to the advancement of the discipline, such as conducting research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and pursuing external grant opportunities. Engages in service to the department, university, and professional community. Mentors students, contributes to curriculum development, participates in committee work, and engages with professional organizations to promote the field of respiratory care.
Displays commitment to student-centered learning, a track record of or potential for scholarly productivity, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary academic environment. Contributes to the shaping of the future of respiratory care education while contributing to the mission of Youngstown State University.
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Registered Respiratory Therapist and, hold or, be eligible for licensure in Ohio*; member of the American Association for Respiratory care. (*) Developed after employment.
Minimum Qualifications: A doctoral degree in health sciences, education, or a related field (e.g., PhD, EdD or DHSc). ABD candidates may apply but must achieve and supply documentation by the time of appointment. Credentialed and licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); three or more years of clinical practice in respiratory care; and evidence of scholarly activity, such as publications, presentations, or involvement in research projects, with a focus on topics relevant to respiratory care or health professions.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience securing external funding through grants or other sources. Experience developing and delivering online or hybrid courses. Leadership experience in academic or clinical settings. Active involvement in professional respiratory care organizations.
