Position Description:
The Department of Biology and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas State University invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry at the Assistant Professor rank. The position will begin in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed to both departments. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded, nationally recognized research program. The candidate must also be dedicated to teaching and mentoring students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in biochemistry is required.
- 5 years of relevant postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.
- Research interests that span genetics, genomics, evolutionary medicine, new models of human disease, and the molecular mechanisms of natural selection.
- 5 years of experience as associate director or director of a genetic research center.
- 5 years of experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research.
- A strong publication record.
- A track record of external funding.
- Ability to establish a nationally recognized research program while directing a genetic research center.
- Ability to teach bioinformatics, genetics, and biochemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research expertise that complements the strengths of both departments.
- Potential for interdisciplinary collaboration.
