Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream
Victoria University in the University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year contractually limited term appointment (renewable) in its Education & Society program. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, and will begin on July 1, 2026.
Minimum qualifications:
- A completed PhD or EdD in Education or a closely related field
- Relevant university-level teaching experience and a record of excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching, as demonstrated by the teaching dossier, evaluations, and letters of reference
- Scholarly expertise as demonstrated by a track record of research and
- Specific areas of teaching and scholarship that are of particular interest include: anti-racism; anti-oppression pedagogy; feminism, gender, and queer studies; inclusive and culturally relevant pedagogy
Preferred qualifications:
- An understanding of Ontario’s public education system through research and/or practical experience working in schools
- Preferred scholarly expertise in post-secondary inclusive and culturally relevant pedagogy, international and/or domestic education policy, research methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods) in
- Experience supervising and mentoring students in research and internships; expertise in evidence-based experiential learning
Ideal candidates will be prepared to teach core courses in Victoria College’s Education & Society program and small first-year seminars in the foundational Vic One program. Courses may include: Equity and Diversity in Education, Social Justice in Education, School and Society, and Theories and Practices of Teaching. They should also have the ability to supervise education internships in local schools and NGOs.
