Position Overview

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in the Department of Internal Medicine is actively recruiting a research faculty with interest and/or expertise in endocrinology related research to join our esteemed faculty. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding and treating endocrinology disorders, leveraging our state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative environment.

In addition to research responsibilities, the role involves active engagement in teaching and mentoring. The candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of endocrinology specialists through lectures, seminars, and hands-on training. This position also includes opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, engineers, and basic scientists, fostering a synergistic approach to endocrinology research. Access to extensive institutional resources will support the candidates research endeavors, facilitating impactful discoveries and contributions to the field of endocrinology.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is an academic position on the research track. The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of endocrinology including, but not limited to endocrinology disorders, diabetes, metabolism, endocrine cancer, reproductive endocrinology, lipids, osteoporosis, and neuroendocrine
  • Develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding
  • Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation
  • Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in Department, College and University committees and initiatives

Requirements

  • PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
  • Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred
  • Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01 or Career Development Award)
  • Academic experience a plus
  • Qualify for an academic appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training experience

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism has been recognized for excellence by U.S. News and World Report on an ongoing basis. We are committed to excellence in clinical care, the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and discoveries to improve the care of patients with endocrine and endocrine-related disorders through laboratory and clinical research. Our division has a long history of developing novel interdisciplinary programs and has demonstrated outstanding performance in areas such as adrenal and pituitary disorders; thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and obesity, and metabolic bone disease. The Division is supported by The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Wexner Medical Center, and The James Cancer Hospital.
