Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (Tenure), School of Nursing
The School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (Tenure) level. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, with the possibility of negotiation. This position is aimed at an exceptional nurse scholar whose primary focus is a commitment to advancing health, health systems, and/or health equity through a robust program of research, while contributing to high-quality teaching and mentorship in the School of Nursing.
This is a research-intensive appointment within the professoriate stream. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain an independent, externally funded program of research in a field relevant to nursing and health, and produce high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship with impact at local, national, and/or international levels. The successful candidate will provide research mentorship and supervision for graduate students (MN, PhD) and contribute to research training for undergraduate students. They will also contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching, particularly in areas aligned with their expertise, and engage in academic service within the School, Faculty, and University, appropriate to rank. It is expected that the successful candidate will build and maintain collaborative partnerships with practice, community, policy, or interdisciplinary academic partners. The successful candidate will be required to have registration as a nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) within 3 years of appointment.

The School of Nursing is housed within the Faculty of Health and Social Development. It has over 800 undergraduate and graduate students, and offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in nursing. The faculty also houses schools of Social Work and Health & Exercise Science. In addition to active partnerships with our surrounding communities and Interior Health, our school has international partnerships with schools in Ghana and Zambia.
The School of Nursing has a strong profile in education, research, and practice partnerships locally, regionally and nationally. Our broad scholarly focus spans technologies for health, health equity, healthy environments, well-being, and person-centered care across the lifespan.
At the rank of Assistant Professor, applicants will be expected to have completed a PhD or be nearing completion. Applicants are asked to provide evidence of a developing or established program of research aligned with nursing and health priorities, along with a record of scholarly outputs. Applicants must have an actual or strong potential to obtain competitive external research funding. Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential or established strength in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
At the rank of Associate Professor, applicants must have a PhD, with an established portfolio of research that demonstrates strong peer reviewed publications and consistent scholarly activity. They are expected to be able to develop clear research leadership, which may include leading teams, influencing practice or policy, building research networks, or establishing interdisciplinary collaborations. Applicants must have experience in supervising graduate students (including PhD supervision) and mentoring early-career researchers or postdoctoral fellows.
The expected pay range for this position at the Assistant Professor level is $105,000 - $120,000 per annum plus a benefits package, and for Associate Professor, $110,000–$128,000 CAD per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
