Assistant Project Scientist - Department of Physics - University of California, Berkeley
The Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Assistant Project Scientist in the area of particle physics.
This position will be in Gabriel Orebi Gann's group in the Physics Department of UC Berkeley. The group focuses on simulation and analysis effort on the Eos detector, an L2 project position, and data analysis and detector performance within the SNO+ neutrino experiment.
The successful candidate will co-lead simulation and analysis effort on the Eos detector and the RATPAC2 coordination and oversight committee. The candidate will take on a leadership role on data analysis and detector performance within the SNO+ neutrino experiment. Support on-site data taking and operations for Eos and manage operations of the CHESS facility.
This position will assist with supervising and mentoring postdocs, graduate students and undergraduate students within the research group. The Assistant Project Scientist will take leadership on producing publications and contribute to reports and proposals.

Position title: Assistant Project Scientist
Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See the following table for the current salary scale(s) for this position: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2025-26/represented-july-2025-scales/t37-b.pdf. The current base salary range for this position is $76,700 -$97,600. 'Off-scale' salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
Percent time: 100%
Anticipated start: Fall 2025
Position duration: Two years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on performance and availability of funding.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application): PhD or equivalent international degree.
Preferred qualifications: 5 years of experience in particle physics research since PhD; Experience working with hybrid Cherenkov/scintillation technology for neutrino physics applications; Experience with the RATPAC2 software suite.
