Assistant Research Scientist, Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine
Job Summary
The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member as an Assistant Research Scientist. The role involves participating in project planning, development of research protocols, ensuring compliance with scientific principles and guidelines, and performing experimental studies including electrophysiology, cell biology, and molecular biology experiments such as animal surgery, electrophysiology, genotyping, western blot, ELISA, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, and tissue collection. The position also includes analyzing results using image analyses, maintaining spreadsheets, supervising research personnel, advising on techniques, and operating scientific equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in grant writing and submission
- Scientific manuscripts writing and submission
- Planning, designing, and performing research projects and analyzing data
- Mentoring and supervising postdoctoral fellows, research associates, and graduate students
- Performing administrative and managerial tasks in the laboratory
- Attending lab meetings and discussions of research results
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other life sciences related to sensory function and basic science research.
