Position Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathology Division in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Central Michigan University (CMU) is recruiting for a full-time, 12-month, fixed-term faculty instructor. Ideally, the successful candidate will begin at the start of the Spring 2026 semester; however, a Summer or Fall 2026 start date may be considered.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and providing clinical instruction/supervision in Speech-Language Pathology. The CMU Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and is located in The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. An attractive benefits package is available.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or clinical doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or closely related field.
  • CCC-SLP.
  • Licensed as an SLP in Michigan or eligible for Michigan licensure.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a speech-language pathologist.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: phonetics; adult communication disorders; dysphagia; motor speech; voice; speech, language, and hearing disorders and differences across the lifespan (introductory content). Other related areas of expertise may be considered.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the university level.
  • Clinical supervision/instruction experience.
  • Demonstrated evidence-based competence in clinical education of speech-language pathology students.
  • Experience providing inter-professional education and practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive interpersonal relations.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to function in a dynamic environment.
  • Evidence of involvement with professional associations and organizations.

About the Department:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) has a faculty/staff of 35, and an enrollment of approximately 120 graduate students and 200 undergraduate signed majors. The department’s academic and clinical programs are accredited in both speech-language pathology and audiology by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Over 5,000 clients are seen annually, including 100+ participants in the Summer Specialty Clinics program.
