The Department of Physics & Astronomy at UCLA seeks applications for a full-time (100%) Assistant Researcher in the area of Galactic Center science. Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Astronomy or a related field and a demonstrated background in the analysis of adaptive optics imaging data. The successful candidate will: (1) manage and organize the reduction and analysis of near-infrared imaging data from ground-based observations obtained with W. M. Keck Observatory, (2) participate in the effort to probe dark matter and new physics (e.g., tests of general relativity and probes of a possible 5th force) around the Galactic supermassive black hole carried out by the Galactic Center Group through analysis of stellar orbits, as well as other UCLA Galactic Center projects, and (3) will be expected to write observing proposals, lead observing runs, write peer-reviewed manuscripts, give presentations at conferences, and co-supervise students. Candidates should provide: a curriculum vita; a statement of research interests; a publication list; complete a reference check authorization release form; and arrange for three letters of reference to be uploaded to UCLA Academic Recruit. See Table 13B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $93,400 - $110,400.
