About this opportunity: The School of Art at Ball State University welcomes applications for a full-time, non-tenure line Assistant Teaching Professor of Studio Art to teach undergraduate courses in 4D Foundations, Video and New Media, and other areas of interest and expertise. The ideal candidate will be a creative teacher, thoughtful mentor, and collaborative colleague.
The School of Art has over forty full-time faculty and staff and offers state-of-the-art facilities serving more than 700 undergraduate majors. Programs at the BA, BS, and BFA levels include art education, art history, graphic design, animation production, illustration, game art/design, visual effects, and a studio art program that includes drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, glass, metals + jewelry, sculpture, photography, and video and new media.
Teaching responsibilities are on campus, in Muncie, Indiana.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Salary and benefit packages for this position are competitive, with salaries for this opportunity beginning at $52,500 annually.
What you'll do and what you will bring:
Description: Non-tenure-line faculty in the School of Art teach undergraduate courses at all levels, from first-year Foundations through senior projects. All faculty participate in service at the School, College, and University level and are committed to student success and curricular innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The typical course load consists of four courses (12 hours) each fall and spring semester, including ADS 103 4D Foundations, ART 200 Introduction to Digital Art, ART 234 Experimental Video, and/or other courses in the instructor’s area of expertise. Courses are generally scheduled on campus, with occasional courses scheduled online, either synchronously or asynchronously.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in art, design, or related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment.
- One semester of teaching experience at the college level, gained concurrently or at any time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in art, design, or related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment.
- Engagement with contemporary art practices as an artist, designer, and/or educator.
- One year of teaching experience at the college level, gained concurrently or at any time.
