Assistant Women's Basketball Coach
The University of Indianapolis is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time Assistant Coach to support the operations of its intercollegiate athletics program. Reporting directly to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach plays an integral role in the daily coaching, recruitment, and development of student-athletes, as well as in the administrative and operational functions of the program.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to NCAA Division II standards, academic excellence, and the overall mission of UIndy Athletics.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a coaching or teaching role/prior knowledge in the respective sport as an athlete or other.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting student-athletes, player development, and program organization.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations (or a willingness to learn).
- Ability to mentor student-athletes and support academic and athletic development.
- Preferred: Proficiency in film breakdown, practice planning, and performance analytics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Essential Functions
- Coach and actively lead and mentor student-athletes.
- Assist with the planning and execution of practices, individual training sessions, and competitive events.
- Recruit prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA and GLVC regulations.
- Abide by University policies, NCAA and conference regulations.
- Perform administrative tasks including credit card reconciliation, CARA logs, travel arrangements, video analysis, and statistical tracking.
- Support the Head Coach in managing the program’s budget and equipment inventory.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on academic success, athletic performance, and personal development.
