SUMMARY:
The Indiana University of Pennsylvania College of Osteopathic
Medicine (IUPCOM) invites applications for the inaugural Founding
Associate Dean of Operations, a full-time, nonrepresented
management position beginning in Summer 2026. As a member of the
college's executive leadership team, the Founding Associate Dean
will provide strategic administrative and operational leadership in
support of the Dean and the overall mission of the College,
ensuring the effective and efficient execution of daily operations.
Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean will be
responsible for the management, oversight, and direction of all
operational functions within the College of Osteopathic Medicine,
including grants administration and project management,
institutional compliance, and accreditation requirements related to
COCA and MSCHE standards. The position provides direct leadership
and supervision for key operational personnel, including the COM
Budget Director, Assistant Director of Human Resources, Assistant
Director of Financial Aid, Director of Quality Improvement and
Assessment, Clerical Assistant for the Department of Operations,
and grant-funded Project Managers within the College's reporting
structure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for the operational management, supervision,
direction and oversight college operations, under direction of the
dean
Formulating and implementing operational COM policies
Management of daily operations including COM budget and
finance, human resources, data and quality improvement tracking,
accreditation standards compliance maintenance, and daily
operations.
Managing, overseeing, and making recommendations to the dean
regarding facilities, resources, and personnel.
Analyzes the effectiveness of and creates recommendations for
future direction of existing and future grants.
Direct and oversee COM budget management and grant procurement
under direction of the COM Dean.
Lead all activities related to programmatic (COCA) and
institutional (MSCHE) accreditation as related to the College of
Osteopathic Medicine.
Oversee all aspects of quality improvement for the COM.
Oversees human resources for the COM, and in conjunction with
the Assistant Director of HR, work with University HR to ensure
smooth hiring and human resources management.
Works collaboratively with facilities management, Information
Technology, Security, and Library Resources to ensure that the
learning environment for students is appropriate and in line with
college and national accreditation standards.
Translates strategic and tactical business plans into
operational plans, making operational recommendations to the
dean.
Creates infrastructure for direction, goals, implementation
strategy and policies of the COM as a whole.
Directs the efforts of and supervises operations departmental
staff, sets performance standards and accountability.
Contributes to the ongoing pro forma and annual COM operating
budget.
Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new
initiatives, and special projects.
Oversees and ensures that all programs, activities, and series
comply with university, state, and federal regulations.
Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships
throughout the University, collaborating to ensure appropriate
communications, promotions, and public relations for the COM.
Serves on various university, division and College committees
and represents the COM at various state and national
associations.
Works with other COM senior leaders in maintaining an inclusive
working environment that is free from discrimination and
harassment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Position Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree or related equivalent degree from an accredited
college or university
PREFERRED:
- Additional terminal degree in the health professions or health
professions education (e.g., DO/MBA; MD/MBA; or PhD, EdD, DBA, or
related field in health professions education)
- Experience working in an academic setting with depth of
knowledge of programmatic and institutional accreditation
standards, polices, procedures
- Evidence of administrative or leadership experience involving a
division or unit in a university involving programmatic and
institutional accreditation and/or grant management
- Expertise in project management with demonstrated evidence of
excellence
- Significant senior-level budget management experience
- Experience in senior-level project management experience in
overseeing large projects with multiple divisions, including
grants
- Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., COCA, LCME, or
comparable bodies)
