Associate Dean, Office of Ignatian Mission in Medicine
Job Overview
The inaugural Associate Dean for the Office of Ignatian Mission in Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine (SLU SOM) is a key leadership position responsible for defining and implementing strategies to assess, cultivate, and advance the mission-driven culture in the School of Medicine. Reporting to the Vice President for Medical Affairs/Dean, this role involves shaping the mission through a strategic plan with measurable goals and accountability mechanisms. The position intersects with all areas of the University and communities served, including SSM Health, and may include another clinical, research, educational, or administrative role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Dean and senior leaders to develop and implement a strategic plan to enhance mission-driven culture, engagement, inclusivity, and belonging among learners, faculty, and staff.
- Programmatic and Administrative Oversight: Oversee programs in education, wellness, pathways, community service, and support for affinity groups, ensuring alignment with inclusivity and community engagement goals.
- Reporting Relationships: Manage direct reports in the Office of Ignatian Mission in Medicine and collaborate with other administrative offices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires a dynamic leader with empathy, humility, emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and experience in medical school leadership. Must embody Saint Louis University's Catholic, Jesuit values and demonstrate skills in communication, data-driven planning, and organizational change.
Qualifications
At least 5 years of clinical, educational, or administrative experience in academic medicine, with knowledge of equal opportunity laws. Graduate degree (MD, DO, JD, EdD, PhD) required. Applications must include a cover letter, resume/CV, and a personal vision statement.
