Department Summary
The Associate Director of Housing Operations directs critical functions of the housing operations including but not limited to providing leadership over Business Operations and Student Services staff (assignments, contracts, communication), Guest Housing, 31 South Court Street, Orientation, Move-In Traffic/Parking, Move Out logistics the Housing Ambassador program. Develops and provides direct oversight of software development, implementations and advancements, solution integrations and data management of the technological systems for business operations. Develops and manages all related service communications for Business Operations. Analyzes housing in hall and business practices and develops technology to align with meeting the functional needs of Housing and Residence Life.
Key responsibilities:
- Business and Functional Leadership: Leads the housing and dining application process, roommate selection process, housing assignments, room selection experiences and meal plan selection processes for over 8,000 students who reside on campus in support of a two year live on requirement. Leads essential business functions that have an impact on student records, accountability, and billing. Build collaborative partnerships both internally and externally with campus partners and university stakeholders (parents/students) to ensure that housing business and functional operations supports university efforts to recruit, yield and retain students in an effective and personal manner. Primary point of support for business operations and student services staff to resolve unique and complex concerns that require the ability to make decisions that aligns with departmental and university policy while ensuring student and parent satisfaction. Works collaboratively with Student Accessibility Services to create a placement and billing strategy that requires a sound knowledge of law and Ohio Revised Code. Serves as liaison with intercollegiate athletics for all assignments, housing, dining, billing in support of academic, pre and post assignment needs. Upholds the University housing requirement through an approach of service excellence that requires a conceptional and working knowledge of university policy and departmental practices and procedures. Provide leadership over key management and ensures compliance with safety and security for key distribution for residential students.
- University Recruitment and Retention Strategies and Support: Directs and manages Housing and Residence Life engagements and experiences that have an impact on student recruitment and retention. Creates collaborative partnerships with Undergraduate Admissions to create and promote residential experiences that showcases the value of a comprehensive living and dining experience during daily tours, Admission Events and Bobcat Student Orientation. Creates and leads engagement campaigns/experiences in collaboration with the vision of Undergraduate Admissions during recruiting events (Discovery Days, Ohio UpClose and Gateway Days, etc.).. Identifies and develops marketing strategies for Admissions events and other business/functional needs. Directs collaborative outreach efforts with the Bursar and Allen Student Advising Center in support of improving student retention for students who are at risk due to prior term balances, academic dismissals and who are in housing and not registered for a future term. Provides leadership with regional relocate and transfer initiatives that engages and enhances the student's experience.
- Technical Solutions and Business Analytics: Responsible for the development, testing, execution, implementation, and integrations of all departmental technology and serves as primary liaison with vendor(s) and internal departments (Office of Information Technology, Bursar, Registrar, Culinary, Access Control, Undergraduate Admissions). Evaluates technical support needs and monitors interfaces with other university software systems. Analyzes functional and business needs of Housing and Residence Life and develops technology to align with and support all aspects of the housing application process (SIS, THDSS), housing assignment/selection processes (THDSS), dining service plans (THDSS, MPI), and student engagement and retention strategies (THD MOBILE, RRM, THDSS, MyCollegeRoomie). Facilitates training on effective and inclusive technology use in support of departmental needs and divisional priorities. Ensures that technical solutions meet the expectations of web accessibility guideline standards in support of all students. Responsible for creating and monitoring integrations between The Housing Director and Peoplesoft, Cashnet, Blackboard, Transact and eRezLife. Manages, develops tests and supports all business logic and technological advancements with The Housing Director, eRezLife (as it supports Business Operations), and My College Roomie.
- Department and Division Support: Supports the department and division as needed by serving committees, teams and projects. Serve as an advocate for students, staff, and programs as it relates to business operations and residential living. Chairs teams to review new initiatives and trends in which will result in the need to align business functions to meet the current needs which have an impact to our students and their success.

Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5 or more years of related professional experience, and 3 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.
