General Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship, the Associate Director of Stewardship develops and manages programs and practices that acknowledge donors and demonstrate the impact of donors at Illinois Institute of Technology. The Associate Director advocates for donor intent and interests while ensuring donors are acknowledged, informed, and connected to the mission.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. At least three to five years of experience working in not-for-profit organizations, fundraising, or an academic environment is required. Experience working in stewardship or donor relations is highly preferred.
Skills:
To be successful in this role, the Associate Director must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong knowledge of proper grammar and adherence to the Illinois Tech style guide. Extreme attention to detail is required. The Associate Director must be a strong team player who is exceptionally organized and thorough, and who can independently multitask and prioritize projects. A strong service-oriented and collaborative mindset is required. Must be proactive with strong project management and problem-solving skills. Must maintain confidentiality and operate with professionalism and integrity at all times. Kindness and a sense of humor are also highly valuable. Technical skills should include proficiency in Microsoft Office and 360 as well as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or a similar CRM database.
Work Hours and Location:
Work hours are between 8:30 and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with occasional weekend or after-hours work required for special events.
Key Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Stewardship will:
- Provide direction and project management for all impact and financial reports, and drive collaboration with students, advancement partners, and campus partners to ensure top quality, timely, and accurate reporting.
- Develop and execute strategies to acknowledge donors for their philanthropic contributions to Illinois Tech. Partner with internal stakeholders to manage complex processes resulting in high quality, thoughtful, and meaningful acknowledgement.
- Identify opportunities for enhanced stewardship and develop strategies and practices to achieve greater, more meaningful impact with donors, while maintaining efficiency and managing resources effectively.
- Maintain stewardship records, documentation, and collateral. Work within Raiser’s Edge NXT database to ensure thorough and accurate documentation of all stewardship touches. Proactively create and maintain stewardship resources and policies.
- Serve as first point of contact on stewardship inquiries and a proactive resource for advancement colleagues and internal partners. Serve as advancement liaison to the office of financial aid. Conduct research on funds, gifts, and donors as needed.
