Organizational Unit Overview:
Academic Affairs ('AA') is headed by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs who serves as the institutions Chief Academic Officer ('CAO') and is responsible for administering academic policies. AA is comprised of each of the universitys colleges, schools, and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units, to include Learner Operations, Research, Innovation and Engagement, Institutional Planning, Assessment and Research, and Global Affairs. Academic Affairs works collaboratively to strengthen ECUs culture of academic excellence in line with our mission to be a national model for student success, public service, and regional transformation.
The Undergraduate Admissions Office is the primary point of contact for a traditional first year student, transfer, or non-traditional adult student seeking admission to East Carolina University. The office is responsible for identifying and recruiting potential applicants with outstanding academic ability and potential and assisting in the application process to completion.
Job Duties:
The Associate Director of Admissions - Transfer Recruitment and Partnerships serves as a key member of the Undergraduate Admissions leadership team, providing strategic oversight for recruitment, outreach, and enrollment planning for transfer and other specialized student populations, including but not limited to readmit students, and second-degree seekers.
Reporting directly to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, this position develops and implements data-informed strategies to meet enrollment goals; supervises professional and administrative staff; and ensures that admissions standards, policies, and processes are applied consistently across populations. The Associate Director also collaborates extensively with the Registrars Office, Academic Advising, Enrollment Services, and community college and university partners to strengthen academic pathways and promote a seamless student transition to ECU.

25% Strategic Planning and Oversight of Transfer Recruitment and Specialized Student Populations
- Under the direction of the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, develop and implement a comprehensive, data-informed recruitment plan to achieve annual enrollment goals for transfer and other specialized student populations, including but not limited to readmits and second - degree seekers.
- Lead the planning and execution of on-campus, off-campus, and virtual recruitment initiatives designed to attract transfer applicants across North Carolina and beyond.
- Utilize enrollment data, student trend analysis, and predictive modeling to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
- Serve as a key liaison between the Office of Admissions and campus partners to ensure alignment of transfer recruitment goals with university enrollment objectives.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies through continuous evaluation and reporting.
25% Partnership and Pathway Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with representatives at in-state and out-of-state community colleges to strengthen transfer pipelines and academic partnerships.
- Serve as the admissions liaison for ECU Flight Path and Project Kitty Hawk, collaborating with internal and external partners-including the Registrars Office, Academic Advising, and the Division of Academic Affairs-to ensure alignment of admissions processes, communication, and policy compliance.
- Serve as the lead and liaison for the Pirate Promise program and similar initiatives designed to provide early engagement with prospective transfer students.
- Collaborate with academic colleges and university leadership to develop, maintain, and update transfer articulation agreements and memoranda of understanding.
- Serve as a liaison between the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Registrars Office, and Academic Advising by maintaining a strong understanding of transfer credit evaluation and advisement processes to ensure a seamless transition experience for transfer students.
- Advocate for the transfer student experience across campus and within the UNC System by staying informed of regional and national policy trends impacting transfer mobility.
20% Transfer Event Management and Communications
- Oversee the planning and implementation of transfer-specific recruitment events while collaborating with the admissions team to ensure transfer initiatives are effectively represented in large scale admissions events.
- Partner with the universitys marketing and communications team to create and execute a comprehensive communication plan for transfer audiences, including print, digital, and social media content.
- Ensure that all communication and event materials reflect the universitys brand standards and effectively convey ECUs commitment to access, success, and student support.
- Collaborate with campus partners to streamline messaging and ensure accurate representation of transfer policies and opportunities.
15% Enrollment and Yield Management
- Identify and engage prospective transfer students throughout the admissions funnel using data-driven strategies and CRM tools to maximize yield.
- Maintain a strong understanding of ECU admissions requirements and application processing workflows to support accurate communication and strategic decision-making related to transfer and special pathway populations.
- Conduct regular analysis of inquiry, applicant, and admit data to identify barriers to enrollment and recommend process improvements.
- Oversee the tracking and reporting of transfer enrollment outcomes and contribute to strategic planning discussions on recruitment and retention.
- Participate in the evaluation of programs and initiatives, providing recommendations to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions based on assessment data, feedback, and ROI analysis.
10% Staff Supervision and Professional Development
- Supervise the transfer recruitment team and administrative staff, providing leadership, guidance, and ongoing performance evaluation.
- Supervise and support the administrative staff responsible for processing applications for the ECU Flight Path program, ensuring compliance with established admissions standards, application review procedures, and university policies.
- Foster a collaborative, student-centered, and service-oriented culture within the transfer team and the Office of Admissions.
- Support onboarding, training, and professional development opportunities for transfer recruitment staff to ensure excellence in service and communication.
- Serve as an active member of the admissions leadership team, contributing to office-wide initiatives, policy discussions, and continuous improvement efforts.
5% Additional Departmental Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs and priorities of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
- Demonstrate flexibility and initiative by assisting with departmental initiatives, special projects, and university-wide recruitment or yield events as needed.
- Serve on university committees as requested.

Minimum Education/Experience:
- Masters degree
- Three years of professional admissions counseling or related academic advising or post-secondary experience
- Demonstrated experience supervising others in program initiation, planning development, administration, record-keeping, evaluation, and leadership, including two years in a leadership capacity supervising professional staff
- Position requires a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of the date of hire. A valid drivers license must be maintained as a condition of employment. Ability to rent vehicle.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
- Demonstrated collaboration skills to involve faculty and staff
- Advanced understanding of the applications of technology to the functions of the Office of Admissions (e.g. Banner, CRM). Experience in Banner data systems preferred.
- Knowledge of post-secondary transfer credit practices
