Associate/Full Professor and Canada Excellence Research Chair in Rural, Northern, or Indigenous Health
We seek an outstanding candidate to champion health research for rural, remote, northern, or Indigenous communities in British Columbia, Canada, and across the globe. This position will leverage partnerships and potential of the Northern Hub for Health Research to lead a world-class research portfolio aligned with UNBC’s strengths, including:
- Knowledge Mobilisation and community-engaged research: Community-engaged research in health services and systems, public health, social, cultural, and environmental determinants of health, health humanities, health policy, health education, and patient outcomes.
- Biomedical: Growing community of life science researchers integrating techniques in physiology, imaging, molecular biology, biochemistry, and chemistry for foundational and applied research.
- Clinical: The Northern Centre for Clinical Research (NCCR) is a collaborative initiative of UNBC, University of British Columbia (UBC), and the Northern Health Authority (NHA), aligning with BC’s Life Science and Biomanufacturing Strategy.
About the Position:
- Location: University of Northern British Columbia, Prince George Campus and/or its regional campuses.
- Fields of Specialisation: Researchers from across health research spectrum (e.g., Indigenous health, population health, health systems, clinical, biomedical) with expertise in collaborative health research for health equity for rural, remote, northern, and Indigenous people.
- Academic Units: Faculty of Human and Health Sciences (FHHS) or the Division of Medical Sciences, with possibility of cross-appointment.
- Category of Appointment: Tenured.
- Rank/Position Title: Associate/Full Professor and Canada Excellence Research Chair.
- Start Date: Within 12 months of notice of award.

The Chair is valued at either $500,000 or $1 million per year for eight years, including salaries and benefits. Appointment is conditional on approval from the Tri-Agency Institutional Programs Secretariat. The Chairholder will contribute to knowledge mobilization, teach, supervise graduate and postdoctoral fellows, provide research leadership, and offer service to the University.
UNBC has Faculties focused on health research, including the Faculty of Human and Health Sciences and Division of Medical Sciences, supporting various programs.
