Professor in Bioethics
Université de Montréal’s School of Public Health (ESPUM) is the only French-language school of public health in the world and the only one in Canada accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). It attracts 1,500 students focused on improving population health through education and knowledge application.
The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (DMSP) specializes in health promotion, global health, epidemiology, biostatistics, and bioethics. Its mission involves teaching and research to promote population health.
Day-to-day responsibilities: You will teach general and specialized courses in bioethics at master’s and doctoral levels, supervise students and postdoctoral fellows, develop and conduct a research program in bioethics, publish in academic journals, contribute to departmental activities, and enhance the reputation of DMSP, ESPUM, and Université de Montréal through various engagements.
Qualifications: A PhD in bioethics or related discipline; expertise in fields like ethics of health services, research ethics, public health ethics, and health policy; knowledge of relevant theories and methods; ability to teach bioethics to diverse audiences; potential to supervise graduate students; ability to conduct high-level research; potential for collaborations; and proficiency in French or commitment to learn it.
