Chairs are appointed for an 8-year term, with awards of $8 million ($1M annually) or $4 million ($500k annually), including salary and research funds. The process involves two stages: initial application to UPEI, then collaboration for CERC submission (registration due January 21, 2026; full application due March 18, 2026). Results are announced by January 2027, with a start in Spring 2027. For details, visit the CERC competition website.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctoral degree in a related field, lead a superior research program in One Health in Rural Environments recognized nationally and internationally, have established collaborations with rural communities, obtain external funding, and demonstrate a record of supervising highly qualified persons and teaching potential.
Eligibility: Nominees must be Full Professors or Associate Professors promotable to Full Professor, or possess equivalent qualifications if from outside academia. Canadian appointees must show net benefit to Canada for relocation. For full details, contact UPEI’s Research Services Office at mlsteele@upei.ca or consult the CERC Program.
