ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR

DIVISION OF PHYSICAL THERAPY

SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

West Virginia University School of Medicine - Health Professions, located in Morgantown, WV, is seeking an on-campus/in-person, full-time, non-tenure track (12-month) Associate/Full Professor, within the Department of Health Professions, Division of Physical Therapy to contribute to a well-established program with a tradition of excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. This faculty member will contribute to the mission of WVU, and the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) housed within the School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will be a core faculty member with expertise in cardiopulmonary physical therapy and provide high-quality instruction in the entry-level doctoral curriculum, scholarship in areas related to this content, and representation of this content in curriculum planning and development. Active engagement in Division, University, and professional service activities is also expected, including participation in Division and committee meetings as well as recruitment and review of applicants to the physical therapy cardiopulmonary residency program.

This successful candidate will contribute to a department culture of collegiality, collaboration, and trust; promote innovation and resourcefulness; and seek to build partnerships within the department, community, and related programs.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

  • Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy Program
  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a Physical Therapist in the state of West Virginia
  • Minimum of (6) years of experience in higher education (classroom instruction or clinical teaching)
  • Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy OR other recognized specialty certification OR enrollment in a post professional doctoral degree program with established timeline for completion.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching related to the content areas of Contemporary Clinical Expertise and Knowledge of Required: Acute Care, Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy, and/or the care of complex patients

Additional areas of teaching may include physical therapy fundamentals, general medical conditions and pathophysiology, evidence-based physical therapy practice, and professional practice.

All qualifications must be met by the time of the appointment.

Desired qualifications:

  • Scholarship record consistent with appointment at rank of associate or full professor.
  • Post professional doctoral degree awarded by a USDE recognized national or regional accrediting body.

Morgantown is consistently rated as one of the best small metropolitan areas in the country for both lifestyle and business climate. The area offers the cultural diversity and amenities of a large city in a safe, family-friendly environment. There is also an excellent school system and an abundance of beautiful homes and recreational activities.

Faculty members in the Division of Physical Therapy are afforded a differential workload allowing for customization of expectations based on research expertise, clinical/teaching expertise, and service obligations. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
