Associate Lecturer in Psychology
Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an Associate Lecturer to teach this coming academic year.
Birkbeck Business School is looking to recruit a part-time, fixed-term Associate Lecturer to teach on the following modules:
- Life Career Development (MSc Level)
- Research Methods – Qualitative Research Component (MSc Level)
- Research Project Supervisor – Qualitative Methods (MSc Level)
You will have knowledge of organisational psychology and qualitative research methods, and experience of managing online virtual learning environments, online teaching, setting exams/assignments, and marking exams/assignments, and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).
Further to the person specification, additional essential requirements for this role are:
- A regular (ideally daily or near-daily) presence on the conferencing forums to support student engagement and learning.
- The role will involve running one to two live sessions with students on the Life Career Development module. The remainder of the teaching on LCD and Research Methods will be delivered asynchronously via online forums.
- The role will also involve preparing module content in readiness for the start of teaching in late August/early September.
- Curating, enhancing, and developing study and assessment materials to support student learning.

Remuneration: Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £69.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
