Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a pioneering, independent program of research examining structural and organizational determinants of mental health care access, delivery, and outcomes for older adults, individuals with serious mental illness, and other underserved populations. This program should attract extramural funding.
- Participate as a faculty member in activities of the Department of Community Health Systems
- Teach and mentor students in the DNP/PhD programs
- Build and sustain interprofessional, cross-institutional, and international research collaborations
Research Focus Areas
- Mental health and mental illness
- Social, organizational, and institutional determinants of mental health care quality and access for underserved populations
- Mental health system transformation and models of care
Requirements
Education/Licensure -- Minimum (required):
- PhD in Nursing
- Current, or eligibility for, California Registered Nurse licensure
- Current, or eligibility for, California Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Practitioner Furnishing licensure
- Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) or equivalent national certification
Qualifications and Experience (required):
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, national recognition for independent research, extensive clinical activities, service, leadership
- Expertise of four or more years of classroom and/or clinical teaching experience with Advanced Practice Nursing or doctoral students at the graduate level
- Active clinical practice as a nurse practitioner with at least ten years of experience.
- Evidence of interprofessional collaboration at higher educational institutions.
- Evidence of international expertise and research collaboration
- Have a proven track record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications and dissemination relevant to mental health equity and determinants of mental health
- Record of service and leadership within academic, clinical, and professional settings
Additional Experience - Ideal (desired):
- Established program of scholarship using qualitative or mixed approaches to examine mental health systems
- Evidence of sustained intra-campus research collaboration and leadership
- Experience mentoring early-career faculty
- Membership in the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators
Areas of Responsibility
- Teaching and advising DNP/PhD students
- Sustaining and expanding an independently funded program of research on structural and organizational determinants of mental health care and innovative models of mental health care
- Building and sustaining interprofessional, interinstitutional, and international research collaborations
- Engaging in community service, university service, and professional activities as required for an Associate/Full Professor of Clinical X position at UCSF
- Promoting inclusive and welcoming clinical, classroom, and research environments for students, trainees, and patients from culturally, economically, and educationally diverse backgrounds

The total compensation for this position ranges from $127,100 - $332,700. Total compensation at the University of California, San Francisco includes your base salary, which is determined by your rank and step at appointment, and negotiated pay for Health Sciences Compensation Plan members. Faculty who are members of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan may also be eligible for additional incentive pay.
