Associate or Full Specialist - Minor lab
The candidate will engage in functional and structural studies of ion channel:chaperone interactions. Specific focus is on defining mechanisms by which multisubunit ion channels interact with key intracellular chaperone complexes, characterizing composition changes by biochemical, mass spectrometry, and structural methods, and investigating perturbations caused by disease mutations. The candidate will be responsible for conducting biochemical and structural studies. Approaches include expression in mammalian cells, biochemical methods, X-ray crystallography, and cryo-electronmicroscopy.
Required Qualifications:
- Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
- Specialists appointed at the Full rank must possess a Terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.
- Demonstrated proficiency in biochemical and structural characterization of ion channel:chaperone complexes.
- Demonstrated proficiency protein expression and purification using insect and mammalian cells.
- Demonstrated proficiency gene cloning, mutant generation, cell transfection, and cell culture.
Preferred Qualifications:
- >5 years postdoctoral experience in the study of multiprotein complexes by X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM methods.
