General Description
Laboratories in the Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine invite applications for a Research Associate position specializing in single-molecule imaging. We seek a highly motivated and creative individual who has strong expertise in:
- single-molecule fluorescence microscopy instrumentation, such as in vitro imaging using wide-field, objective- or prism-based total internal reflection, in vivo single-molecule localization microscopy or other types of superresolution imaging, and/or live cell single-molecule tracking;
- single-molecule imaging sample preparation, such as labeling and slide preparation.
- Single-molecule data analysis using custom MATLAB or Python scripts.
The candidate should also have broad knowledge in molecular and cell biology and biophysics.
The responsibilities of the position are:
- Manage and maintain single-molecule imaging instrumentation
- Provide instrumentation support and training for laboratory members
- Provide imaging and data analysis support
- Consult, assist, and lead collaborations of Interdisciplinary projects in basic and biomedical sciences
In addition, there will also be opportunities to develop novel single-molecule technologies driven by research and medical needs.
Qualifications
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent, preferably with at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience, and have a strong record of productivity, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications. In addition, mentoring experience is highly desired.
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The initial appointment will be for a minimum of 2 years, with the possibility of renewals.
