ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR CHEMISTRY-TENURE TRACK
Job Summary
Responsible for high research productivity (external funding and publications); conducting applied research; supervising undergraduate and graduate student research; teaching chemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including but not limited to biochemistry, biological engineering and material science; advising undergraduate and graduate students; developing courses for chemistry and engineering for undergraduate and graduate programs; and assuming departmental and college committee responsibilities.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Demonstrated engagement in applied chemistry/biochemistry research (with the potential for expanded interdisciplinary work) in spaces common to engineering disciplines such as chemical, biological, and material science and as evidenced by scholarly publications and the ability to secure external funding to conduct applied chemistry/biochemistry research.
Essential Duties Summary
- Research productivity (external funding and publications in peer-reviewed journals).
- Supervise research for undergraduate and graduate students
- Teach chemistry, biochemistry, biological engineering, material science and other related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop courses for chemistry and engineering programs.
- Serve on departmental and college committees.
- Participate in professional activities, including internal and external conferences and seminars.
- Perform other duties within the range of skills typically associated with a position of this classification in an evolving teaching and learning environment.
- Carry out additional job-related duties as assigned.

$70,856.64-$97,428.00
Education
Required: Doctorate in chemistry
Required Licensing/Certification
None required.

Knowledge of:

Work Experience
Required:
- At least one-year post-doctoral or professional experience
- Minimum five (5) years teaching experience
- Experience in applied research.
Working/Environmental Conditions
- Prolonged standing and/or walking.
- Handling light weight objects.
- Using or carrying equipment.
